Goals from Bellingham, VinÃcius, Rodrygo, and Asensio Seal the Deal
Madrid, Spain - Real Madrid extended their lead at the top of the La Liga table with a resounding 4-0 victory over Girona FC at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium on Saturday.
Jude Bellingham opened the scoring for the hosts in the 15th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by Girona. VinÃcius Júnior doubled the lead just seven minutes later with a close-range finish. Rodrygo extended Madrid's advantage in the 60th minute, and Marco Asensio sealed the victory with a goal in the 80th minute.
Real Madrid controlled the pace of the game throughout, dominating possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities. Girona had their moments, but were unable to find a way past the formidable Madrid defense.
The win takes Real Madrid to 56 points from 22 games, five points clear of second-placed Barcelona. Girona, meanwhile, remain in 12th place with 23 points from the same number of games.
After the match, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti praised his team's performance. "We played very well today," he said. "We were patient in possession and created many chances. We defended well and did not concede any goals. It was a complete performance."
Girona manager MÃchel was disappointed with his team's display. "We did not play well enough today," he said. "We made too many mistakes and did not create enough chances. We will need to improve our performance in the coming weeks."
